Johnny Brazier Returns to Victory Lane in the Late Model Feature

John Thomas Captures the Win in the Open Wheel Division After Battling with Johnny Brazier; In His First Time at Huntsville Speedway Austin Wilson Takes the Win in the Super Stock Division

FAST TIME QUALIFIERS

In qualifying, Johnny Brazier captured the fast time in both the Late Model Division (13.891) and the Open Wheel Division (13.814). Austin Wilson set a blistering pace (15.469) in the Super Stock Division too capture the fast time.

LATE MODEL

In the Late Model Division at Huntsville Speedway, the number 71 of Johnny Brazier rolled a four on inversion, placing the number 4 of Chris Whorton on the pole and Billy Melvin on the outside pole. At the drop of the green flag, Whorton was able to get out to an early lead with the number 2 of Jaxon Bishop trailing close by in second. Whorton and Bishop were battling for the lead when a caution came out on lap 19. The number 9 of Brian Bentley spun out while racing with the number 11 of JoJo Wilkinson. Both drivers were able to continue to race, however, the number 99 of Gary Nix of would retire to the pits. Coming to the restart Bishop in the number 2 would be warned twice about jumping the restart before the leader, number 4 of Whorton. Once the race was able to go back green, Bishop was able to make the pass for the lead over Whorton. As Bishop was taking the lead, the number 145 of Billy Melvin was preparing to charge towards the front. Melvin was able to take second from Whorton and the race for the lead had begun. Bishop and Melvin were racing hard and contact was made between the two drivers and it resulted in a spin by Bishop on lap 34. While Melvin was able to continue after contact Bishop had his night come to an end. This gave the number 71 of Johnny Brazier, who was able to pass the number 4 of Whorton before the caution on lap 34, the lead. The race would go back caution-free with 15 laps left of the 50 lap feature. Johnny Brazier was able to return to victory lane for back-to-back victory. The number 4 of Chris Whorton, the number 61 of TW Fisher, the number 27 of Edwin Gurley, and the number 24 of Keith Rankin rounded out the top five.

OPEN WHEEL

In the Open Wheel Division, fast time qualifier, Johnny Brazier, rolled a four on inversion placing the number 51 of Phillip Price and the number 47 of John Thomas on the front row. At the initial start of the race John Thomas was able to take the lead from Price. The number 71 of Johnny Brazier was also able to pass Price on the start of the race. Thomas and Brazier were battling for the lead and on lap nine Brazier was able to pass Thomas. As Brazier and Thomas began escaping from the field, a close race between third, fourth, and fifth began heating up. The number 74 of Troy Gray was able to take third from Price, and the number of 18 of Gary Sandford began working on Price. Contact was made between Price and Sandford on lap 22 that resulted in a spin by Price. On the restart Thomas was able to take the lead from Brazier. The race would stay green for the rest of the 50 lap feature, allowing John Thomas to capture the victory. Johnny Brazier in the number 71, Troy Gray in the number 74, Bradley Carter in the number 23, and Gary Sandford in the number 18 rounded out the top five.

SUPER STOCK

In the Super Stock Division, Austin Wilson rolled a six on inversion placing the number 29 of Junior Jordan and the number 21 of David Dean, Jr. on the front row. At the drop of the green flag the number 1 of Austin Thornton found an opening underneath Jordan and was able to take the lead. Thornton followed by the number of 98 of Todd Cagle were able to get distance from the field. On lap 9 a hard battle between the number 21 of Dean, Jr. and the number 18 of Brandon Walker resulted in a caution, after the two made contact and Walker spun. While Walker was able to continue, Dean, Jr. and Junior Jordan would have to retire from the race, both because of different circumstances. When the race went back green Thornton was able to keep the lead over Cagle, but on lap 13 contact was made between the two which loosened Thornton and resulted in a spin. Thornton suffered from a cut tire but once the tire was changed he was able to continue. On the restart, the number 01 of Austin Wilson was able to take the lead from Cagle, after taking the cone under the caution. On lap 15, the number 14 of Caleb Thornberry and the number 18 of Brandon Walker collected and the caution would come out. Neither would be able to return to the race. On lap 16, Todd Cagle got loose and hit the inside wall, but was able to continue for the remaining few laps. Austin Wilson was able to capture his first victory at Huntsville Speedway, followed by Austin Thornton and Todd Cagle.

PRO BUZZ

In the Pro Buzz Division, the number 36 of Matthew Robbins was able to take the lead on the initial start from the number of 192 of Shane Jones. Shane Jones was noticeable catching Robbins, however, on lap 7 Robbins retired to the pits giving the lead to Shane Jones. Shane Jones was able to return to victory lane, followed by the number 84 of Floyd Brown. Kaylea Cox was able to get her third victory in the Buzz Division.

HOT SHOT

In the Hot Shot Division, the number 01 of Josh McElhone took the lead early after starting in the rear and was able to get the victory. The number 46 of Jamie Bradford and the number 00 of Jeremy Price were battling for second place and Jamie Bradford was able to take second place, followed by Jeremy Price, the number 13 of Paul Frazier, and the number 02 of Ben Jennings to round out the top five.
