HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA – MAY 12, 2018 – Fourteen year old Hueytown, Alabama driver JoLynn “JoJo” Wilkinson captured her first victory in a Late Model stock car Saturday night in a thrilling six lap shootout with fellow young gun Austin Aker of Taft, Tennessee and last season’s Late Model Track Champion Billy Melvin of Trussville, Alabama. The event was the first round of  the Six Shot Showdown Championship Series being hosted throughout the season by Huntsville Speedway and Sayre Speedway. JoJo’s first victory generated thunderous cheers from the crowd on hand and emotional moments for both the driver, her crew and supporters, and her crew chief and father, former Late Model, ARCA, and NASCAR AllPro Series competitor John Wilkinson III. Races Cancelled 5/5

Attention Fans, Supporters, and Drivers at Huntsville Speedway:

Due to the ongoing threat of inclement weather this afternoon and evening in our area, management has made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s racing program.
With tonight being the first race at Huntsville for the Six Shot Showdown, the last thing we want is for drivers to travel a great distance to be with us, only to not be able to race. Heavy rain this afternoon and evening is expected to crossover the Speedway possibly creating a situation where the track may not be in adequate racing condition until late in the evening. We want the Six Shot Showdown to showcase all of the best drivers from Huntsville and Sayre, and we certainly don’t want bad weather to keep drivers away. With that said, the rain out date for tonight’s scheduled Six Shot Showdown event for the Open Wheel Modifieds is Saturday night, July 14. We look forward to welcoming our local and Sayre Open Wheel Modified drivers to Huntsville Speedway on that date.
